The kitchen is often said to be the heart of the home however replacing an existing kitchen can be a stressful and costly business. Our aim is to minimise this expense and disruption leaving you with a kitchen to be proud of.
When choosing your kitchen it is important to make a choice you will be happy with for some time, as it is highly unlikely you will be changing it again in the near future.
We recommend choosing a classic design and colour that will not date easily and one which you could vary the feel of the room by changing wall colour, tiles etc.
Options
Fitted
A fitted kitchen uses the most of any space available and gives a uniform, professional finish. It is available in flatpack form or custom built to suit. A fitted kitchen will add value to your home.
Free Standing
A free standing kitchen gives a more individual finish and has the advantage that you can take the units with you if you move. It has to be well planned to avoid looking messy and will not add any value to your home
Units
Solid Wood: An attractive, though more costly option and durable. Wood can be hard to maintain as it can get affected by temperature and humidity and warp out of shape.
Laminate: Currently the most popular option availabe in a large range of colours and styles, it is easy to maintain and is durable.
Metal/Steel: A very durable and very costly option. It is currently very fashionable, but can be hard to keep clean and smear free.
When Planning a Kitchen
Make sure measurements of size and shape of the walls in the room are 100% accurate. Particularly if you have a small space, closed in on all sides, any
discrepancy, even a few mm, can throw the whole design out of line. Double check all measurements before ordering units.
* Consider the various options available carefully basing your decision on durability, maintenance, style and budget.
* Try to maintain existing service points where possible, as re-plumbing and re-wiring adds time, disruption and cost.
* Food preparation area, sink and cooking area should not be too far apart.
* The traditional place for the kitchen sink is under the window. As this is likely by necessity to be your longest unit (1000mm - housing sink and drainer) position this unit first and work back from that point.
* Unless unavoidable do not position the fridge and cooker next to each other as this will make both appliances work less effeciciently and may damage them.
* If your kitchen is very narrow or small, consider using glass fronted wall cabinets to open up the room.
Renovate not Re-fit
Instead of replacing your entire kitchen we can offer a variety of renovation services as follows, thereby avoiding undue disruption, mess and expense :
* Unit door and drawer front replacements.
* Re-spray to interior of units and/or fascias if
structurally sound.
