Style and Design
We supply and fit Carpets from a wide range of styles as follows:
Tufted 80% Wool / 20% Synthetic
Comes in various finishes, i.e plain, berber or heather and is a good general all hard wearing purpose carpet.
100% Synthetic
A cheaper option that has a soft velvety feel and is ideal for bedrooms and areas of low traffic as it is less hardwearing.
Low Loop Pile
Carpets have a very hard finish and are very practical for areas of high traffic but they have a less luxurious appearance.
Woven
A classic traditional top quality carpet such as Axminster, Wilton etc which is very hard wearing
Wooden & Wood Effect Floors
These are currently one of the most popular choices of flooring with an enormous range of styles, colours and prices available as follows:
Laminate
The cheapest and reasonably hard wearing option . It is not actually wood but a high density fibreboard base covered with a printed grain laminate top that has a resinous surface.
It comes in a variety of wood effects such as beech, oak, maple etc and also in colours such as green and blue.
It comes in planks that either click or glue together on top of a layer of foam underlay. Cannot be sanded and re-polished unlike solid wood and is not recommended for areas such as kitchens and b bathrooms where flooring may get wet and the fibreboard expand.
Veneer
This is a moderately priced , good all round option to suit most purposes. This is a plywood base with a real wood veneer of approx 3-6 mm again in several varieties such as oak, maple, beech etc. When laying very thin varieties it is important that they are laid onto a very flat, even base as they may well distort. This type can be sanded very lightly and re-sealed to prolong the finish but not too much as veneers are quite thin.
Solid Wood
The most expensive and most durable option with a beautiful finish. All wood varieties are available as well as patterns such as parquet or herringbone effect. These floors can be sanded and re-polished and will last many years. This type is ideal for large areas such as entrances and hallways which experience a lot of traffic.
Not recommended for areas that will experience severe fluctuations in humidity as it is a natural product which may warp if it absorbs a lot of moisture.
As well as supplying and fitting the above floors we also offer a renovation service including sanding and re-polishing of hardwood flooring.
Vinyls and linos Vinyl flooring
These are currently the most popular choice of flooring amongst our clients.
Vinyl : One of the most practical and versatile options available.
Standard vinyl much like carpet is usually available in 3m or 4m widths
with printed patterns and covered with a top layer of clear vinyl.
This is not recommended for areas of heavy traffic as over time the top surface will become scratched and dull looking. The thickness of this layer will determine quality, lifetime and hence price.Today companies such as Amtico, Polyflor and Gerflor produce an extensive range of beautiful vinyl tiles, strips, planks etc in almost any finish, i.e wood , stone, marble, ceramic, granite, metal, plastic in every colour and pattern imaginable - the possibilities are endless. They can be used in any area of the house, are hardwearing have a wonderful finish.
Average cost : £ 10.00 - £70.00 per sqm
Lino : A flooring that has gone out of fashion in the past few years but with new designs and colours has started to make a comeback.
It is a natural product made of linseed oil, resin and cork , usually found in plain or marbled finished. It is an exceptionally hardwearing floor and for this reason can often be seen in public areas, schools, hospitals
